Melconnx — Morley-Ellenbrook Line

The MELconnx Alliance, led by Laing O’Rourke, was awarded the design and construction of METRONET’s Morley-Ellenbrook Line — linking Perth’s fast-growing north-eastern suburbs directly to the wider passenger rail network.

The 21 km line is the longest METRONET rail project and the most significant expansion of the network since the Mandurah Line opened in 2007. It delivers five new stations at Morley, Noranda, Malaga, Whiteman Park and Ellenbrook, with future-proofing for a station at Bennett Springs East. Enabling works delivered under the Tonkin Gap project allowed the line to be built in the median of Tonkin Highway between Bayswater and Malaga.

Aurum’s role

Aurum Engineering provided electrical engineering support to MELconnx for all five stations, as well as line-wide components enabling electrification and integration between the rail corridor and the station precincts. Construction was completed in December 2024.
